A Comparison Study Analyzing the Attitudes, Knowledge and Beliefs on Vaccines of Mexico-born Mothers and Mexican American Mothers in San Diego.

The purpose of this study was to compare the attitudes, knowledge, and beliefs on vaccines between Mexican mothers that have children under five years of age. Also, to identify barriers that are preventing mothers from vaccinating their children. These barriers may include, but are not limited to, lack of insurance, transportation, lack of education, language barriers, or lack of trust in Western Medicine. The goal was to identify where the lack of knowledge originates by analyzing participants’ knowledge, attitude, and current beliefs on vaccinations, whether there is a lack of education coming from the medical staff at the local hospital or clinic, or if the attitudes, knowledge and beliefs is something that is being passed down from generation to generation.
