Project

Promoting Growth Mindset in Education as a Means to Increase Academic Achievement, Student Motivation and Engagement, and Perseverance and Resilience in the Face of Academically Rigorous Curriculum

The purpose of this project was to explore the benefits of a growth mindset in education and use the research to develop a website for teachers, administrators, and support staff. The website was created as a resource to inform educators on what a growth mindset is, provide research-based benefits of a growth mindset, guide teachers in developing their own growth mindsets as well as rendering strategies for implementation to instill a growth mindset in students. This project is significant because it provides a resource designed specifically for educators, administrators, and support staff to positively impact the social-emotional climate for students school-wide and, as a result, positively impact student academic achievement, motivation, and engagement, as well as their perseverance and resilience in the face of academically rigorous curriculums guided by the Common Core State Standards. KEY WORDS: growth mindset, academic achievement, motivation, engagement, perseverance, resilience, academic rigor, social-emotional climate
