Management Consulting and SaaS Industry Analysis

This project was sponsored by HighBeam Analytics Company which was founded in 2018, and the brand name of the company is moved from The180Group to HighBeam Analytics. The founder previous provided management consulting service, and now he puts his focus into developing a predictive consulting analytics software. HighBeam Analytics is a start-up company which is dedicated to providing combined services of consulting and software. The first project task for us was to assist company owner with his two co-hosting events with Chase Bank and 41 Orange companies. We were responsible for giving support for this event such as recording the presentation, giving sponsor feedback through the survey analysis that was collected from the audiences, and getting learning experience from the real business world. The second task for us was to provide consulting service industry analysis to the company. The paper offers our sponsor a general and comprehensive understanding about the current consulting industry performance. Additionally, we conducted a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) industry and trend analysis which shows a positive development trend for this industry. Third, in order to help the company better market to their potential customers, we are required to do market segmentation research and give calculations which include the company’s target market sizes in manufacturing, distribution, and service industries. Furthermore, the paper identifies the company’s current issues and prospective situation through conducting Porter’s Five Forces analysis and SWOT analysis. Results of the industry research analysis show that HighBeam Analytics should be a SaaS company since software development is the trend in the future. In addition, we did financial calculations in the total addressable market, served available market, and serviceable obtainable market sizes which proves that there is a huge potential market for HighBeam Analytics. The study further discovers that the company’s current position is not very optimistic. The major areas of weakness include their software development and the company’s cash flow problems. However, the prospective position of the company’s development would be great if they could solve these two major problems. In fact, HighBeam Analytics is finding more customers, and they have built connections with banks which are the main business partners for the company. Recommendations include: increasing the number of the target customers by concentrating on local companies and attracting more international companies. HighBeam Analytics should focus more on software, computer, and big data to better complement the traditional consulting service. Reducing major cost in labor pool will help HighBeam Analytics get higher profits. Moreover, pay more attention to legal areas to prevent related legal disputes.
