An Organizational Needs Assessment for a Public Health Research Center at California State University San Marcos: Identifying Research Needs, Funding Opportunities, and Infrastructure

The goal of the present study is to inform the development of a Public Health Research Center (PHRC) at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) by conducting an organizational needs assessment to identify research needs, funding opportunities, and infrastructure. Following secondary data analysis of the University Library Survey of Faculty Research Needs, 7 key informants were interviewed, and 20 faculty were surveyed, with an online survey response rate of 44%. Findings indicate a need for financial, material, human, integrity/compliance, and intellectual/scholarly resources, as well as pre- and post- grant support; yet, limited support of each is provided. Participants perceived developing a PHRC at CSUSM as beneficial.
